How to sell class packs and memberships online
7 min read · Updated 3 October 2026
Packs and memberships turn one-off drop-ins into regulars, and they get you paid before the class happens. Choose prices and rules that feel fair to clients and still work for you.
Start from your drop-in price
Set your single-class price first. Price every pack and membership from it.
For example, with a £12 drop-in class: a 5-class pack at £55 (£11 a class), a 10-class pack at £100 (£10 a class), and an unlimited monthly membership at around six classes' worth, say £69. Clients who come twice a week save the most.
Use round numbers, such as £55 for five.
Give packs an expiry date, and make it generous
Without an expiry, unused packs stay on your books for ever. Allow about two weeks per class plus some slack: 5 classes in 60 days, 10 in 120 days.
Send a reminder a week before credits expire, so clients know before they run out.
Decide what a membership includes
- Unlimited, or capped (for example 8 classes a month)? Capped memberships suit small rooms where one keen member could fill every session.
- Which classes it covers. If you run a premium small-group class, exclude it and sell it separately.
- Whether you allow pauses, how long, and how often. Two to four weeks, a couple of times a year, covers holidays and injuries.
- A minimum term, if any. Month to month is simplest. A three-month minimum can make sense for a programme with a clear end goal.
Use one intro offer
Pick one offer for first-timers, such as 'First class free' or '2 classes for £10 in 14 days'. Limit it to new clients, and give it a short expiry so people come soon.
Set one cancellation rule
Pick a cancellation window, for example 12 hours for classes and 24 hours for 1:1s, and apply it the same way every time. Cancel in time and the credit goes back. Cancel late and it's used.
Let clients buy a pack and book in one step
Let clients choose a class, pick 'buy a 5-class pack' right there, pay with Apple Pay or Google Pay, and be booked in.
Quick answers
- Should class packs expire?
- Usually yes, with a generous window: roughly two weeks per class plus slack, such as 5 classes in 60 days. Send a reminder a week before expiry.
- How much should an unlimited membership cost?
- A good starting point is about six drop-in classes' worth per month, so clients who come twice a week save.
- What's a fair cancellation window?
- Many use 12 hours for group classes and 24 hours for 1:1 sessions. Apply it consistently and let the booking system enforce it.
