How to get PT clients to renew their pack
6 min read · Updated 18 October 2026
When a pack runs out with nothing booked and nothing paid, clients often stop coming. Ask before it runs out, with the next pack ready to go.
Ask with two sessions left
With two sessions left there's time to talk without pressure, and to keep their regular slots for the next pack.
Show what they've done
Before you ask, point to something real from this pack, such as a lift that went up. Then say what the next pack is for: "Next we build on the squat and get your 5K under 30 minutes."
Messages you can copy
- Two left: "You've got 2 sessions left on this pack. Want me to set up the next 10 so we keep your Tuesday and Thursday slots? Same price as before."
- If they hesitate: "No problem. I'll hold your slots until Friday, then I'll offer them to someone on my list."
- After the last session with no reply: "Great block, Sam. Your slots are still free this week if you'd like to carry on. Just say and I'll book you in."
Have the next pack ready to pay for
- Offer the same pack at the same price as the default, with any change as an option
- Book the next pack's sessions at the same time as they pay
- Send a payment link they can use straight from the chat
- For clients who've been with you for a few months, offer auto-renew: the next pack starts when this one runs out
Track your renewal rate
Out of the packs that finished last quarter, count how many renewed within two weeks. With 20 clients on £420 packs, moving from 60% to 80% renewal means 4 more renewals per cycle, or £1,680.
Quick answers
- When should I ask a PT client to renew?
- With two sessions left. It gives time to talk and lets you hold their regular slots for the next block.
- Should I offer a discount to renew?
- Usually not. Save discounts for larger packs.
- What if a client says they can't afford to renew?
- Offer a smaller pack or fewer sessions a week, and leave the door open.
